#airbnb #visited ## Review Owned by the same couple as [[Casa Awakening, El Cuyo]], the Awakening Sanctuary is a more recent project in the jungle near Tizimin, featuring exceptionally designed buildings making liberal use of bamboo, their very own (beautiful) cenote, and offering many wellness services like cacao ceremonies, temazcals, and cold plunges. The newest building at the Sanctuary is the [Trillium](https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1239876959152156973), designed in a three petal shape and featuring three bedrooms and a pool. The environment and architecture are breathtaking, and the full meal service was done very well. All rooms were separated from nature by just mosquito mesh which we thought would be a dealbreaker but the relatively cool temperatures at night when we visited (December 2024) made it very pleasant. The Sanctuary would have received a higher review but it felt like it was losing its battle against nature – electricity was only on for a few hours a day, and there were fire ant hills all over the main path and grass (whose aggressive bites caused a fairly significant allergic reaction in one of our guests). The constant humidity made the spiral staircase of the Trillium building very slippery, causing a fall and four stitches in another member of our party. There is a walk through the jungle to a (closed) cenote which also resulted in a tick attaching itself to yet another member of our group.
