## Review
Franciscan convent dedicated to San Antonio de Padua in [[Izamal]], featuring a large atrium surrounded by four chapels. The atrium is the second largest closed atrium in the world after St. Peter's Square at the Vatican.
Beautiful and serene up top, though with mixed feelings due to the [history of Inquisitions and torture](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diego_de_Landa) perpetrated by the same Franciscans (especially Diego de Landa) on the Maya and the [destruction of the vast majority of Mayan texts](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maya_codices) during the same period.
